Academic Merit Scholarships
Students applying to North Cedar Academy may be eligible for academic merit scholarships to reduce their tuition costs based on their most recently completed academic year. Academic Merit Scholarships are awarded according to the following GPA criteria:
“A-” to “A” Average (3.67 to 4.00 GPA)
* $5,000 Awarded for spring semester applicants
* $10,000 Awarded for academic year applicants
“B” to “B+” Average (3.00 to 3.66 GPA)
*$2,500 Awarded for spring semester applicants
*$5,000 Awarded for academic year applicants
GPAs are rounded to the nearest hundredth for eligibility purposes.
How to Apply:
Students must submit a written statement and their admission application to apply for an Academic Merit Scholarship. This statement should include:
1. A request to have their prior year’s transcript considered for the Academic Merit Scholarship.
2. The top three goals they have for the academic year or semester they are applying for.
Terms and Conditions:
* The student must actively participate in thePeer Tutoring Program during the academic year.
* Students may reapply for their scholarships each re-enrollment period. To do so, they simply follow the steps they completed the year prior.
“Eagles’ Essay” Scholarship
New applicants are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
Please choose on of the following essay prompts to respond to.
Your essay should be between 300 and 500 words. Make sure to address all parts of the prompt in your response, reflecting on your past experiences and how they connect to your future goals at NCA.
Winners will be awarded a $5,000 scholarship for the academic year, or $2,500 if applying for the Spring Semester.
Please follow these guidelines when submitting your essay:
*Format: Typed, in a 12-point font (Times New Roman or Arial preferred), as a PDF or Word document. Copy and paste the essay prompt you choose to answer to the top of the page.
* Word Count: 300-500 words
* Submission: Submit at the same time as the admission application. All supporting documents can be emailed to admissions@northcedar.net or uploaded to the online application.
Essay Prompts (Choose One):
1. “Describe a time when you demonstrated personal responsibility or leadership in your community. How do you plan to further develop these qualities at North Cedar Academy? How will your time at NCA help you achieve your academic and personal goals?”
2. “North Cedar Academy embraces a multicultural community and the exploration of new ideas. Share an experience where you were challenged to step outside of your comfort zone. How did this experience shape your perspective, and how do you think NCA’s global environment will further influence your growth?”
3. “NCA emphasizes hands-on learning and personal growth through its academic programs and extracurricular opportunities. Describe a time when a project or activity deeply engaged your interest and how it helped you grow. How do you envision continuing this growth at North Cedar Academy?”
4. “Kindness is a core value that strengthens communities and builds meaningful relationships. Describe a time when you chose to show kindness in a challenging situation. How did this experience impact both you and others? How will you continue to embody kindness at North Cedar Academy?”

* This is a one-time award and cannot be reapplied for during re-enrollment.
“Eagles’ Acts of Kindness” Tuition Award
North Cedar Academy (NCA) is proud to offer the Acts of Kindness Tuition Award, which recognizes students who demonstrate a commitment to kindness and community service.
This award provides new students with a tuition, room, and/or board reduction based on the number of noncompulsory volunteer hours completed at a rate of $1,000 for every 2.5 hours of service, with a maximum possible tuition reduction of $10,000 for 25 hours of service.
Eligibility Requirements:
1. Enrollment: Applicants must be new students submitting their applications to North Cedar Academy for the upcoming term.
2. Noncompulsory Community Service: Students must complete noncompulsory community service or volunteer work within 12 months prior to their application submission. Noncompulsory community service will be defined as community service or volunteer work that is not required by school or other programs.
Service Types:
Eligible activities include volunteering at nonprofit organizations, community events, environmental clean-ups, assisting the elderly, or other acts of kindness that benefit the community. Paid or mandated work does not qualify.
Application Details:
Proof of Service: Applicants must submit official documentation verifying their community service hours. Documentation must include:
1. A signed letter from the organization or individual who supervised the service, including contact information, the dates, total number of hours completed, and a general description of the service activity.
2. Reflection Essay: In addition to proof of service, students must submit a 100-300 word reflection describing their volunteer experience, what they learned, and how it impacted their view of kindness and community responsibility.
* Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and must be submitted at the same time as the admission application or re-enrollment period, if applicable.
Award Details:
* Eligible students will receive confirmation of their Acts of Kindness Tuition Award within three business days of application submission.
* Each 2.5 hours of noncompulsory community service completed is worth $1,000 toward tuition, room, and/or board, for a maximum of $10,000 or 25 hours of service.
* The service hours will also be applied to the graduation requirement of 20 hours of community service.
* The award will be automatically applied to the student’s tuition, room, and/or board balance for the academic year or semester they are enrolling for based on the number of verified service hours (up to 25 per calendar year and enrollment period).
Terms and Conditions:
* Students previously granted the Eagles’ Act of Kindness Award may reapply for consecutive years. Service hours must be newly earned for each application and cannot be duplicated.Important Disclaimer for 2026-27 applicants:

Day students are not eligible for scholarships, financial aid, or discounts. Our goal is to ensure that qualified students from diverse backgrounds have access to our educational programs, regardless of their financial situation. Families are encouraged to apply for financial aid, and we are committed to working with each applicant to make an NCA education affordable.
International families: Complete the financial profile (available for download below) and submit it to admissions@northcedar.net along with the last 3 months’ pay stubs/checks and the last 3 months’ bank statements showing available savings and checking amounts for each living, legal parent/guardian.Domestic families: Submit a copy of the most recent tax filing, along with the last 3 months’ pay stubs/checks and the last 3 months’ bank statements showing available savings and checking amounts for each living, legal parent/guardian.

NCA offers a tuition-free discount for all domestic families. This initiative provides significant savings: $31,300 for students entering grades 9 and 10, and $35,600 for those in grades 11 and 12.
