How to Apply
Admission Application
North Cedar Academy uses the TADS +Educate system for admissions, enrollment, and tuition management. While it is recommended that families use TADS for the application to minimize the amount of data input later in the process, it is not required—families may still apply through the SAO if they prefer.
We currently accept one online application:
1. Enrollment Management Association’s Standard Application Online (SAO)
Transcripts/Report Cards
- Grades 9-11: Send the last two years of grade reports/transcripts
- Grade 12: We must review all three years to determine your ability to graduate from NCA at the end of one academic year. If the 11th grade year is not yet finished, please send what you currently have available (such as first semester grades or a midterm progress report).
- All students should be prepared to send their final grades once available if they were still in progress at the time of acceptance.
- International Students: Transcripts must be translated (if not in English) and evaluated (course-by-course with GPA calculation) by a NACES-approved third party, such as Educational Perspectives, Foreign Academic Credential Service, Inc., or World Education Services, Inc. If this step is not completed before arrival, the evaluation fee will be charged to the Student Expense Account, and NCA will arrange for the evaluation on your behalf.
Recommendation letters
- Domestic students should submit two recommendation letters from core subject teachers of their choice. The teachers must have taught the student within the last academic year. In place of the recommendation letters, we will accept a one-page letter from the students introducing themselves and expressing why they wish to attend NCA, as well as a recent EMA Character Skills Snapshot report.
- International students should submit two recommendation letters from core subject teachers. One must be from a recent English teacher or tutor if the student is from a country where English is not one of the primary languages. We will accept a recent Duolingo English, TOEFL, iTEP, or Cambridge English placement test score in place of the English recommendation letter. –The second letter can be from a teacher of their choice. We will accept a recent EMA Character Skills Snapshot report in place of the second letter.
Student Interview
All students, domestic and international, must complete the admission interview. This can be done in person, or via Zoom, Google Meet, or WhatsApp. Please use this link to schedule your interview using Calendly.
If you are unable to find a time that works best for you, please email us some alternative times that you are available and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Additional Items
- International students must submit the last 3 months of each living legal parent/guardian’s paystubs or bank statements and a copy of the photo page of their passport so that we can best prepare to issue their documents, including the I-20: Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status.
- Students applying for financial aid must ask their parents to complete the Financial Profile//Aid form. Families should be prepared to provide proof of income and a bank checking/savings statement. Domestic families may choose to submit their most recent tax return documents instead of the Domestic Parents Financial Statement. Either are acceptable.
- A copy of the student’s birth certificate.
